Bond, Matthew

Matthew Bond
flourished, 1811
Devon

One violin shown to me in photographs, labelled "Made by / Matthew Bond / in the County of Devon ..." and dated 1811 on the corner of the label. Rather oddly branded "MAKER" twice in the form of a cross on the back, and once more on the front. Work is a little reminiscent of 17th-century English work, especially the spine on the centre of the scroll.
