Mickepher Rawlins (II)
London, born 1693, active around 1720-30
Mickepher Rawlins worked "Over against the Globe Tavern in the Strand near Charing Cross". The son of Mickepher (I) he appears to have continued the family business of music selling and possibly instrument making. Very little is known of the company whatsoever, but a flurry of publications in the mid-1720s reveal partnerships with John Barrett, a violin maker in Piccadilly in 1725, William Smith, a music publisher. Most works are of theatre or opera songs. John Sheeles Suites of Lessons for the Harpsichord or Spinett, printed around 1725 is the only instrumentally specific work that he is directly involved with, but since John Barrett the violin maker also had a hand in it's sale, it doesn't indicate that he was specifically involved with keyboard instruments.
His son, Mickepher (III) was born on 4 May 1719. Given that Thomas Rawlins (c.1703-1767) was a music copyist as well as a musician, it is likely that the family remained in the music business in one form or another, but as yet evidence is too sparse to give further biography.
