Woods

Mr. Woods
fl. circa 1795
Overton, Cheshire

Absolutely nothing known about Mr Woods, beyond his mention in the Chester Chronicle, 24 May 1793.

A few days ago was married, at St. Werburgh's, in this city, Mr. Wm. Dykes, of Manley-hall to Miss Woods, only daughter and heiress of Mr. Woods of antient celebrity as a violin-maker at Overton, near Frodsham ; a young lady whose sweetness of temper is not less fascinating than the sweetest tones of one of her father's sweetest fiddles.

Quite possibly the cheesiest and most cringeworthy eulogy to a fiddle maker's daughter ever written.
