Louis Frank Milton

Bedford
Born in 1898 at Marston, Wolverhampton, he was a pupil of A.L. Scholes, and established from 1923 in Bedford. A violin by him (below) has more than a passing resemblance to the work of Edwin Whitmarsh, especially in the varnish and that it was supplied new with a "London neck", suggesting some communication between the two makers. In parallel to Whitmarsh, his work was provided for the London trade, and the violin has a label indicating that his sole agents were Boosey & Hawkes Ltd. Good professional workmanship at a level intended to compete with better quality Mirecourt work.
